Myerscough and M-Sport have long been at the forefront when it comes to improving the prospects of talented youngsters with aspirations of a career in motorsport.

For several years, Myerscough students worked with the Cumbrian squad as part of their FIA Junior World Rally Championship and MSA British Rally Championship teams – getting a practical insight into the detail at motorsport’s highest level.

This was halted during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, but has operated again since 2022, offering unique, sector leading enrichment opportunities students studying for degrees in Motorsport Competition Car Technology and Motorsport Management and Logistics.

Over Easter, three Myerscough motorsport degree students spent their Easter break working at M-Sport’s state of the art facility, continuing to develop industry skills and knowledge at the pinnacle of motorsport.

First year Sam Patterson was in the Hydraulics department. Sam learnt the art of servicing dampers and calipers, ready for use on events and customer rally builds.

Second year Connor Dewhurst spent the week in Transmissions working on various components including rebuilding the gearbox and differential for the Puma Rally 1 test car ready for Rally Croatia.

On her second year of the programme, Molly Pate showed her skills in the workshop, building customer Rally 2 Fiestas. This is a vital part of M-Sport's business and a key area to show attention to detail.

Molly also got the opportunity to attend the British Rally Championship Test in Greystoke, followed by attending the second round of the championship, the Rallynuts Severn Valley Stages, where the team secured second and fifth.

Places are still available for September 2024 entry across a wide range of motorsport study programmes.
