Applications will be opening soon for 2026
Bursary Overview
We want to ensure that all students have the opportunity to study for a degree qualification, regardless of background or financial circumstances. The College is committed to providing support to students from lower income households.
A limited number of Myerscough College Bursaries are available, to provide discretionary financial assistance for students to access and remain in Higher Education, particularly those students who need financial help to meet extra costs that cannot be met from other sources of support. Priority groups include students with children, lone parents, mature students with existing financial commitments, students from low income backgrounds and students in unexpected hardship. Funds are limited and therefore initial allocations will be a maximum of £1500 (pro-rata for part-time students.) This will be reviewed later in the academic year, subject to take-up and availability of funds.
Internal Progression Award
All students who progress from FE at Myerscough to full time HE at Myerscough without interruption will receive a £750 cash award. Student must progress directly without a break in study. The cash award will be payable in 3 instalments:
• £250 before Christmas as long as students have >90% attendance (excepting extenuating circumstances).
• £250 at the end of year 1 as long as students have successfully passed all modules at the June assessment boards.
• £250 when the student enrols for the start of year 2.
The internal progression award is automatically allocated. Bursaries and scholarships are by application. Students may apply for more than one bursary / progression award, but only one bursary / progression will be awarded (usually the highest value for which the student is eligible). Bursaries do not have to be repaid. Applications to the HE Hardship Fund can be made in addition to the bursaries. Bursaries can be paid by reduced residential fees, discounted or free bus passes or cash awards depending on individual requirements.
Higher Education Hardship Fund
Students who are experiencing financial hardship may be eligible for support from the Hardship Fund, it is open to full time and part time students studying an undergraduate qualification on campus. UK residents studying an online undergraduate qualification may also be eligible to apply. The fund also supports IT course related costs.
Students will be asked to provide evidence of financial hardship through the application. For further information on this fund please speak to our Student Finance Advisor by emailing studentfinance@myerscough.ac.uk or phone 01995 642398
Myerscough College Scholarships
20 ‘Scholarships’ to be made available. The scholarships will consist of a £1,000 cash payment in the first year of the programme. Further details of Scholarships are below.
Myerscough applicants who demonstrate or promote excellence in their subject may be eligible for financial support from one of the College scholarships. The scholarships are open to students applying to study on any Myerscough full time foundation degree or honours degree programme.
In return, students in receipt of a scholarship will be expected to act as a Student Ambassador for their subject and the College by representing the College in their chosen subject, helping at College recruitment activities such as Course Advice events and Applicant Days or promoting access and support for under-represented groups where the opportunity arises.
A limited number of bursaries and hardship funds are available and will be awarded to those with the greatest need. Meeting essential eligibility criterion does not equate to an entitlement to a bursary. This is a one-year benefit, not a recurrent annual entitlement, annual applications must be submitted.
